2022 Jr Patriots Cheer 6th, 7th and 8th Grade

ABOUT JR PATRIOTS CHEER!

The Jr Patriots Cheer Program is an introductory and developmental sideline cheer program for students who will be attending South or Southwest Middle Schools. All our Parent Reps and Coaches are volunteers. We are a club sport, independent from Parkway Schools but that supports the Parkway South Jr Patriots Football and Basketball Programs.

In this program we will provide a positive, fun introduction to basic level cheer, with focuses on proper movements, technique, spirit and etiquette. Wanting to  give as many Middle Schoolers as possible the opportunity to  cheer,  there are no try outs, and no cuts. We don’t compete or require tumbling. We work closely with the Parkway South Varsity Cheerleaders to expand our skills knowledge and continue to  improve with our goal to  educate, inform and help our cheerleaders master the skills needed to  be successful in high school cheer.

Our program is progressive, building on skills each year:

6th Grade focuses primarily on technique and etiquette and cheer basics, learning the Fight Song, jumps, and over 50  sideline cheers, but will not stunt .

7th Grade will be introduced to basic stunting fundamentals, and will build on to those skills, focusing on safety and technique.

8th Grade will continue to  build on their existing stunting  skills while learning more advanced skills throughout the season.

For Football,we practice 3 Tuesdays in August, and then typically one Thursday each week Aug - Nov with 1 game each weekend. Participation during Basketball season is optional. There will be 3 practices in January and 8-10 games on weekends in Jan, Feb and early March.
